Rex Ensemble

Rex Ensemble is a jazz combo, active from the 1960s to the 1990s, on the Needles Records label (out of Needles, California in the Mohave Desert). The band members themselves came out of the St. Louis jazz scene. They began as a slick group in the 60s, complete with matching suits, and then became more experimental in the 1970s. The group went on hiatus in the 1980s as each member went their separate ways to explore solo projects or travel for inspiration. They came back together for a few more albums in the 1990s, influenced by their experiences apart.
