Mondays are no one’s favorite day of the week, but when it means no more WonderCon, a Monday is especially disappointing.
We had such a great time in San Francisco at this year’s WonderCon. We saw terrific art, met a lot of great
people, and ate the best sandwiches of our lives!
If you haven’t seen Tiny Kitten Teeth, you should hurry up and check them out. Their work is adorable and hilarious, and Becky and Frank are just as nice as could be. But don’t take our word for it, go and check them out.
Did they bring out the stars at WonderCon? Big time.
Lots of your favorite stars from film and television were at WonderCon
meeting fans. And while meeting a
celebrity can sometimes be a let down when you find out that their star isn’t
as radiant as it seems from a distance, that’s not the case with Elvira. She’s the real deal. Whatever she might look like at the grocery
store will remain a mystery, because she stayed every inch her character at
WonderCon. She’s glamorous and charming
and funny, just what you’d expect from the Mistress of the Dark.
But let’s talk about great art for a minute. Some masters only work in clay, some only in pastels. But we met a genius who creates art in every medium, including sandwiches. Joko Budiono creates beautiful pieces for comics, but he brings those same skills to his sandwich building too. Using an extra piece of bread in the middle of the sandwich, his designs are truly groundbreaking.
No trip to WonderCon would be complete without some
shopping. We picked up a lot of great
finds this trip. Louis picked up some original posters of Pennyland
attractions, and Jay scored some rare Brigadier Buffalo pieces by Philip La
Carta, who also designed Spaceman Jax and the Galactic Adventures.
But mostly, it was so great to catch up with old friends in San Francisco. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at WonderCon, and thanks also to the great friends who keep us coming back to the City. We always miss San Francisco when we’re gone.
