There is a brand new limited edition collection of Frank and His Friend – and Curio & Co. has got them for you.
If you’re like us, there are probably a lot of things that you wish you still had from when you were a kid. The top of that list for me would be my books of Frank and His Friend comics.
I wouldn’t have called it a collection back then – because I thought of collections very differently when I was a kid. Collections were things that said: do not touch, keep them on the shelf, let them get dusty. While that idea of ‘collection’ was true for my shell collection or my collection of keys, that wasn’t true for Frank and His Friend. Those books were grimy, with cola stains and ripped pages. They were read over and over and over and were definitely not up on a shelf collecting dust. Sadly, I don’t have any of those original books anymore (although I do still have most of the keys).
Fortunately, however, Ringer Publishing has released a limited Special Collector’s Edition of Frank and His Friend, and we’ve got them! The book is 128 pages of comics that capture all the laughs and warmth you remember. It is the first volume in a series, and the images have all been selected by none other than Melvin Goodge (renowned Frank and His Friend scholar and author of the Eisner-nominated Finding Frank and His Friend).
The book is available for pre-order, and will start shipping August 5th – but here is the kicker: There were only 1000 copies printed! So if you want one, you’re going to have to move fast.
Each piece is hand-stamped with the Curio & Co. seal, and comes with a certificate of authenticity, so you can archive it for posterity. I’d like to say that I’ll keep this one safe on a shelf, but I know myself too well. It will be dog-eared within a week. I’d better get two.
